dutch producer frits wentink continues to flourish in the follow up to his debut lp rarely pure never simple that was released on wolf music back in march this year. throughout releases on heist and wolf, frits has consistently drawn for his arsenal of synths, effects and drum machines and through doing so has stitched a sound characterised by raw drums, analogue bass tones and odd, lo-fi samples.

uncharted waters is the first of a series of releases for bobby boomerang, as this explorer embarks on his next musical journey.

for the second release on frits wentinks new bobby donny label, he hands over to san2, aka geert schilder. hailing from eindhoven in the south of the netherlands, schilder takes his production name from the building which houses his studio, on the second floor of the san building where the legendary radios and tape recorders were built by philips. with this in mind, it seems to follow suit that his music is mainly produced with analog techniques, incorporating equipment like the roland tr-606, sh-101, sbx-1 and akai mpc 2000xl

f.s. blumm aka frank schültge from berlin has been making marvelous music for many years now. be it solo like on his latest album (pingipung in 2013) as part of the subtle folk-duo -bobby & blumm- or as a sound- scape researcher at the side of nils frahm. but even though f.s. blummbastic sees the light of day for the very first time in this release, the combina- tion of dub and blumm is not new: he is part of the quasi dub development (qdd). the collective around blumm and luca fadda from new york recently released the album -little-twister vs stiff-neck- with features by lee scratch perry or lady ann on pingipung in 2014. these -riddims and biscuits- came to live during the creation of material for future qdd-concerts. f.s. blummbastic played all instruments himself, rhythm guitar, organ and of course bass to send the results the the colleagues in new york. soon it was clear: these riddims have the most impact in their reduced form. theyd like to stand alone and get played back loudly. for the drums f.s. blummbastic brought helmut erler aka hey from hey-Ø-hansen into the qdd cosmos. not only did he bang the drums, but he has also mixed, mastered and cut the vinyl of this album.

frits wentink launches his new label bobby donny with ‘live fast, dwayne young’. bobby donny has been set up to primarily feature frits wentink’s own tracks, but focusing on the wonkier, more lo-fi house edge of his sound. the emphasis will be on tracks that are hardware jams on rhodes, juno 60 or mpc, then structured later. frits wentink has already garnered a huge fanbase for his quirky, innovative and characterful house music on a number of forward thinking labels like wolfskuil, 2020vision, heist and wolf with his recent debut album, ‘rarely pure, never simple’ on the latter, gaining much critical acclaim.

limited 12 inch on the tiny don pedros label from nigerian disco supremo bobby i.g featuring two of his best and most sought-after tracks on one slab of loud-pressed vinyl. originally out on the impossible-to-find *bomp* album in 1980 (i.g.s one and only release sadly), these cuts are top-class examples of early nigerian boogie, both heavy ass-shaking floorfillers boasting some phenomenal funky guitar work and ultra-groovy bass. first up is the awesome collectors favourite *disco power* while on the flip we have the equally desirable funk monster *funk ina ghetto*. totally brilliant - dont miss!

bobby b (a.k.a andre ferreira) is perhaps best known as bobby browser, as he is previously issued a pair of eps for the 100% silk label under that name. those records were excellent, but its fair to say that his icee hot debut finds ferreira exploring a richer, deeper sound. >history< is slow-burning deep house jaunt that subtly nods to detroit along the course of its soul-drenched journey. >so true< warms things up, but only slightly, as its relaxed tones, warbling melodies, and loosely stitched breakbeat offer a blissed-out path to the dancefloor.

bobby o donnell, it should be noted, really brings his agame to the table on the release. much like the title suggests, its an ep thats full of lucid moments, with blissful moments of tranquility wonderfully rubbing shoulders with more introspective and melancholic fare throughout.
